Spurrier said he came up with it because during the course of a season every team has key injuries, suspensions, hard times etc., but he says excuses are for losers and he doesn't allow them into his locker room. He goes on to explain how winning is a mentality that starts from the top down with the coaches and team captains...the whole time I was reading it I couldn't help but wonder: what is our team's motto and what kind of mentality have we been using? Easy to have that motto when you are winning most of the time. When you are losing, what are you supposed to say? "We are terrible, we'll never win again." You can't let yourself fall into a deep hole, so you have to stay positive. Spurrier wouldn't be saying the same things if they were losing. You guys read way too much into coachspeak.
