Our d line did pretty well. Not FSU well, but I saw good things.

I would disagree with this assessment. The reason Tommy Rees was able to lead the comeback, in spite of the turnovers, was that he had all day to throw the ball.  Cierre Wood gashed us most of the 1st half. Hardly a "pretty well" type day.

Yes, in spots there were some nice plays by Grissom, Forte, and even Giddins, but for the majority of that game, it was the back 7 that had to save the front 4.  ND's o-line is pretty good, by most accounts, so hopefully this is the aberration and the d-line will wreak some havoc in the coming weeks.

A few people we're missing is Landi, he's going to be huge and SHIELDS.  We were sitting in one of the endzones and could see him WIDE OPEN a number of times and BJ didn't see him.  We've got to get him the ball on these 15-20 yard routes up the gut.  Another guy who definitely didn't get noticed, but had a GREAT game was Joel Miller.  He was laying GREAT BLOCKS all day long that helped turn small gains into chunks.

The new Kickoff guy did pretty well too. Good height/decent distance (after the booming opening kickoff) and no shanks or kicks OB...sadly, that is a big deal for what we have seen in the past. I remember the Pitt game a few years ago, we drove down the field to take the lead, only to have our guy kick it OB and give them great starting field position.

Kick coverage was great as well.. in general special teams was phenomenal yesterday.

In between our praise of B.J. Daniels efficiency and Jerrell Young's playmaking, we have a huge group we are not crediting today.

Our offensive line.

There might have been two or three times during the game where B.J. faced serious pressure. He was only sacked once.

This, against a vaunted ND line that was supposed to rip our reconstructed line to shreds.

It didn't happen. B.J. wasn't running for his life. In fact, most of the time he was moving forward.

Yeah, we didn't exactly run over the ND front seven. But they were most certainly not prepared for the physicality, the preparedness that the USF o-line had waiting for them when we dropped back to pass.

There was only one penalty all night.

We won because of them today as much as we won because of our skill players.

Fantastic post, and I agree 100%.

Whoever put that lick on Woods to place the backup running back into the game.

Someone else said that. Not an original thought. Just saw a replay.

it looked to me that the back seven was "saving  the front THREE" it looked like we had 3 rushing the majority of the time though I do need to watch the game again

Our O-Line looks to be a very good unit. Started out with a major test and passed with high grades. They will be able to gel more over the next 3 games. I'm expecting to dominate the Big East.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
