The Opening Day Three Notebook: Pads and 7-on-7

- USF-bound tight end Sean Price has performed well in 7-on-7 events before and did so once again Friday afternoon. He was able to use his big frame and speed to create mismatches and was a nice target in the red zone.

This was played on espn u. Price had a great day. The kid has the hands and athleticism. Looks like a wr.

Tight end Sean Price (Citra, Fla.), committed to USF

Every time you turned around it seemed Price was catching a touchdown or making a big play. He's done well in these types of competitions, and against top talent at The Opening, he was no exception. He's got great size and, with is gigantic hands, seemed to nab everything thrown his way. Though he's not the fastest guy, he's got football speed and just finds a way to get open.

And Bivins got some a good review as well

Cornerback Chris Bivins (Gainesville, Fla.), committed to USF

Bivins has done well on the camp circuit and showed he could compete with the best and the brightest at The Opening. He's someone who won't back down from anybody and sees the bigger receivers as a challenge. Aggressive and quick, he was really good breaking on the ball and deflecting it.

We need to stay on these guys.

The Opening - SuperBad

Recruitment - Committed to USF

Comments - Price was easily the top tight end, if not one of the top offensive players period, at The Opening. He had several circus catches, and half the players in attendance trying to recruit him away from the Bulls. Price's answer was to recruit for USF.  ;D

I can admit when I'm wrong.  Now that Duke Johnson has been named our new recruiting coordinator, looks like we might be going after Sean Price again.

From the Miami Herald:

"We got two so far, but we ain't done yet," said Johnson, a 5-9, 175-pound scatback considered one of the country's Top 150 high school seniors according to ESPN. "We're very close to getting tight end [and USF commitment] Sean Price [North Marion, Fla]. [Miami Columbus safety and ESPN Top 150 recruit] Deon [bush] too. We spent a lot of time working it, talking to [Miami Beach safety] Ricardo Louis. [Miramar cornerback] Tracy Howard. [Tampa Berkley Prep athlete] Nelson Agholor.

Going after and getting are 2 wholly different things. Sean picked USF over a lot of teams with a lot 2 offer. You guys burned this bridge

We'll see.  I trust our new Recruiting Coordinator, Duke Johnson.

Skill guys live up to their billing

Some receivers, corners have chance to move up ESPNU 150

ESPN Recruiting

TE Sean Price -- It was a pleasant surprise to see Price had packed on some serious weight, and he made a ton of plays in the red zone. He is a great leaper and catches the ball nicely away from his frame. Now possesses the bulk to be a factor as a run-blocker and can create mismatches down the seams.

It's on insidetheu, which is the website that Chris Stock (former Scout-UM guy) started.  It was affiliated with ESPN and has jumped over to 247.

If it's premium content, it'll likely have to be taken down. Not that I have any axe to grind, but I respect what those sites do and the folks that feel the need to plunk down money for such information.
