That was before Jim Leavitt was fired. Once Leavitt was fired (a day or two... within a week?) he declared for the draft. He still catches the ball with his body... He should have been more patient. I think Gilyard wasn't picked yet either, and i think he has more receiving talent than Mitchell. I say 4th rd though.

Big mistake not coming out. He had no hype and no where near the production in college to even really have a legit chance to be in the top 3 rounds of this draft. Got way bad advice. He had what? 700 yards? And half of those came on about 4 catches. Not exactly showing you dominate, just that you can take advantage of a busted coverage once every 4 games. I like the guy, think he has a great personality, drive etc, but man he made a mistake. One more year in college he would've been a strong second rounder with his physical makeup.Would be cool to see him go to the bucs to keep him local, but might not be the best for him as WRs just rot there. His signing bonus was $1.125M. Desean Jackson was drafted in the middle of the 2nd round. His salary was $385k with a roster bonus of $391k. He will not get rich off of his first contract.Marques Colston was drafted in the 7th round and was scheduled to make $445k in his 3rd year before he signed an extension that paid him over $2M per year. These guys are playing for their 2nd contract. You people act like Carlton was going to work his way into a top 10 contract. Well, he wasn't even if he stayed. There is a huge dropoff in guaranteed money after the top 10 or 15 picks. With a rookie cap coming(possibly next year) and the risk of injury and the fact that the there is a small difference between a 4th and a 2nd round contract in guaranteed money, it was a no brainer for him to come out.
