This sounds like USF Polytech turning into Polytech University.

Before that it was "USF Lakeland". I didn't know it ever officially made it to "USF Polytechnic"

Yeah it rebranded a few times before USF was taken away from it.

Chuck Hiller was the first second baseman to hit a grand slam in the World Series and first National Leaguer to do so. SF Giants 1962.

Nice one. This is my favorite one -

Ken Griffey Jr. is second in career WAR (83.8) when considering only left handed outfielders born on November 21st in Donora, PA (Stan Musial, 128.6).

That's pretty cool they were from the same town.

Edit: Only knew that about Hiller because I was a Giants fan and that World Series is my first memory of watching the WS on TV.  Only other guy on here that might no that would be @smazza as he is also a Giants fan. But now sure if he's as old as I am.

Marty St. Louis was an undrafted free agent on his 6th stop through the minors and pros before the Lightning gave him a shot. He became a first ballot HOF, won a stanley cup,  olympic gold medal, and was the first number retired by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Useless information question - How is it that Academy players can enter the portal? I thought they were committed to a given time of service.

I think the service requirement kicks in after 2 years at the Academy (I wanna say I read that somewhere, but I could also be wicked wrong on that). Also probably still have some service requirements after college regardless of whether they finished at their given Academy or another university.
