Well, Eddie Kelly entering the Transfer Portal is a big loss for USF Football.

With all of these transfers in Football and Basketball, it is extremely difficult for a Coach to build a team. Really ridiculous the lack of commitment and hard work most of these young athletes have!

Agreed. I like the old rule that if there is a coaching change, players can transfer, free and clear. This whole jump ship whenever is not teaching these young people responsibility and accountability for life choices; and how to work through adversity and perseverance. I get it if they are not getting a fair shake, but this transfer portal thing is out of control.

It's becoming just a minor league pro system now.  We still say "student athletes," but I think the "student" part is getting less significant.  With that being said, I can't blame these guys for taking advantage of opportunities that are available within the current rules.

Yes, you are correct and it’s unfortunate. I also agree that I can’t fault the kids at all, I’d do the same thing if I were them. It’s a system issue and the new reality we’re in. Definitely puts a heavier burden on the coaches and recruiters.

You have to wonder, “why now?”. From all accounts, CAG seems to be well liked. Was he courted by a bigger school? Were the coaches not that high on him or was it a scheme change? Just seems odd to have it happen right before the spring game (still early enough to change schools, just seems like if you were to transfer, it would be right away).

I think he was Jeff Scott's highest rated recruit. I could have seen him promised a certain amount of playing time to get him to commit.

New head coach, coordinator, and position coach come in and now when spring practice is almost over he transfers out? That makes me think he realized he didn't like how the depth chart was shaking out

With as few new defensive players as we brought in for 2023, can we afford to lose any at this point? And according to the recruiting sites, EVERY player committed thus far for 2024 is on offense - a QB, RB, OL and two WRs. Starting to wonder if we realize what's on the other side of the ball . . .
