Thanks Trip, our intrepid IPF reporter, specializing in "in-vehicle" photojournalism.  Bravo!

Carrollwood (Fairway Village): a few branches down, mostly a cleanup effort. Power was out from about 18:00 on Wednesday until around 12:00 today.  Got to use the battery-operated radio last night and this morning. The Mrs. & I polished up our card playing skills during the power outage. When we first moved here, power outages, though not common, did occur and were of several hours in duration. Yesterday had to be the longest outage in decades. My thinking was that if the power was out for 24 hours, I'd crank up the generator. Didn't have to. We dodged an enormous bullet with this one. The devastation down south originally had our address on it.  And in an interesting turn of events, the remnants of Ian are headed where? Well, according to the tracks on tee-vee, the center of the cone runs right through Monroe, North Carolina, the original homestead of the Robinson dynasty. So, my brother calls me to check in, and tomorrow I'll call and check in on him - same storm, different states. 🙂

Yea not much for me in Trinity area not even loss of power.

Definitely going to look for a drop off location for food/supplies as some of these people homes are totally destroyed it is quite sad seeing the destruction.

IPF looking good, pics below, even have some spare pieces there in case. Didn't drive whole campus but everything looked pretty normal ..... and deserted. Only "damage" I saw was to the tennis area's canopies they use, with the tops being ripped off. The one big canopied structure they use next to the football practice fields was just the frame only but couldn't tell if it was just taken off before hand.

Good to know even major construction projects end up with spare parts and it's not something reserved for DIY. I'll keep this fact in mind for the next time my wife tells me I forgot something because of the pile of nuts and bolts sitting next to a completed project.

Something I never thought about... til yesterday. If you buy a generator fire it up and make darn sure it works. In-laws bought one a few years ago and stuck in the shed for emergencies. Took it out, put oil in, put gas in, second pull and the ever reliable Brigs&Stratton fired right up. Plugged a cord into a 120v outlet and only got a dim light. Instead of the 120v it's only putting out 63v. Not enough to run anything.

The Big Storm Brewery locations in Odessa (Pasco), Clearwater, and Orlando are taking donations:

South Tampa here.  No major damage or flooding.  Power out at about 25% of the homes.  Just a normal Thursday morning here now.  Weird that the bay at Bayshore Blvd once again had negative storm surge.

Tampa warns residents to shelter in place as Ian hits Florida

If you think of the direction of the rotating wind and how the storm hit south of Tampa, this was expected.   Now if the storm hit Tampa or just north of Tampa, then instead of sucking out the water, it would have pushed the water in and surged into South Tampa and flooded everything.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
