I was not surprised. I remember how terrible the officiating was when USF played at Arkansas years ago. USF still almost won last night despite the officiating. Go Bulls!

I've always thought refs should come from a neutral regional pool for all FBS games including conference games.  To have refs "assigned" to a conference is ridiculous.  The rules are the same for all 131 teams and totally neutral refs would call games much more consistently and fairly.

Thant being said, GO BULLS!

Same...should just be handled by NCAA so it appears unbiased.

That was insane. Those two made up calls in the first half gave UoF 7 points.

Sorry, had to laugh at that part of your comment.

You forgot the non call in the first half at the goal line where Weaver got tackled going up for a pass in the end zone and we settled for a FG.

This killed me when the next UF possession we got flagged for running next to the WR. I was like WTF is going on here.

This is something that has been debated for a long time.  The issue is ... some game officials are paid more than others.  SEC refs make more money than Sun Belt refs... and where does the money come from?

For OOC games, the referees are actually negotiated as part of the contract (along with things like travel costs and ticket allotments).  USF could have asked for (and thus paid for) AAC officials or Big Ten officials... but it would appear the Gators wanted SEC refs, and so the Gators paid for them.

I found this article from a few years ago.  It states "Conference referees call intraconference games, but two teams playing an out-of-conference matchup decide who will supply the officials by agreeing on a contract before the game — in most cases, the onus lies on the road team to supply the referees."

Nobody wins when poor officiating decides a thrilling sporting event, and fans come away underwhelmed. Staff writer Griffin Floyd argues the NCAA should reduce...

The following article was tagged in the above one, and makes a lot of sense.  OOC games should really have neutral refs.

The practice of visiting teams 'bringing' officials to other campuses has not stood the test of time

For what it's worth, uncatchable isn't a thing in college rules. That only applies in the NFL.

I was wondering about that regarding a call in the Cuse-Purdue game ..... that would explain it.

Unbiased you mean like the NIL the NCAA is going to share the wealth... oh wait we are going to make more money and expect the fans to pay the players.
