“I’d love to see us be more competitive so we don’t lose all our best coaches to Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama.”

Funny, I’d like to see USF be more competitive, so that we do not lose all of our best games to the muderer’s row that is otherwise known as the AAC

Do a lot of high school coaches really leave the state of Florida for a larger stipend?

Sounds more like a “I support the coaches” talk to build inroads.

Please... there is zero to support the comment that anyone is leaving FL for Alabama because of the coach stipend.

1) Alabama doesn't pay double or triple what Florida does. And, even it did, no one's moving for $2k-$3k more.

2) Alabama pays less on the teaching end. Don't bother with your "average salary search" nonsense to refute me. The football teams good coaches go after are in areas that pay substantially more than the state average in Florida AND Alabama's pay scale in their comparative football rich areas.

3) No one wants to live in Alabama on purpose compared to Florida.

I wonder how much decent coaches cost, obviously it’s more than $2.7 million a year…

You also have to take into consideration taxes. Unless the states previously mentioned are also a $0 income state tax state you would have to consider that in any calculation. Even if Alabama pays $2-3k more the taxes would offset any gains if not result in you losing more money compared to staying in Florida

And, obviously, cost of living and such. But, yeah, they aren't making enough more (or at all) to justify anyone moving from FL to AL just for a coaching job.

He could donate some of his salary.  He doesn’t seem to be doing a lot of coaching thus far.

Before we get too entwined in this whole Alabama diversion and more CJS bashing, that's pretty much what it sounds like ....

A coalition is considering litigation over the long-languishing stipends for Florida prep coaches.
