Looks like Leavitt may stay at SMU since they just hired back their former OC as head coach.  Except I guess CJL has only been there a year and wasn't there with the new guy.

What a coaching carousel season! Holy smokes. My brain hurts trying to keep up.

From the Syracuse 247 blog regarding Sterlin Gilbert getting fired 🤣🤣🤣

Dino Babers is saving his own ******* with this firing. Syracuse was in the top 20 in the country running the ball (and led the ACC if I recall correctly this season), however their QB play was atrocious after Babers pulled the rug from Tommy Devito. Devito entered the portal back in October - it will be interesting seeing where he transfers to - he was a highly coveted, top QB coming from high school. Babers made the call to bench Devito (not Gilbert). Babers essentially placed the ball into a portal transfer from Mississippi State (who obviously wasn't good enough to stay in Mike Leach's system - which is QB friendly). Did Babers undercut Gilbert - my gut says yes. Devito was often injured last season as Syracuse's O-Line was as porous as our defense for the first 11 games of this season. Gilbert will get another opportunity - he's the scapegoat presently - however Babers better turn it around or he's gone next season.

Gilbert was toxic trash here and over there. I felt Dino sabotaged his career with hiring him.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
