USF admin needs to accept that the UCF model worked. They went with a “build it and they will come” model and combined that with loud ADs / coaches. They kept UCF in the news (good or bad) and built their brand. Proclaiming that they won a national championship was a marketing masterclass. It was comical but everyone in the entire country recognized UCF after that. Everyone.

USF blew it in a major way and now they have to take UCFs playbook and execute.

Build the facilities needed to compete. Create a real college football experience on campus. Invest in marketing. Engage the media.

That sounds hard but if you just give $100 more a month that will somehow miracle itself into being the first impactful dollars, ignore the other money you gave or have given because no one can manage to win a single game with that

Well clearly that’s the reason we can’t be successful and it’s alumni like us that are too blame are a x(y+$1000) away from success at all times. X equals current donors and y equals current giving amount so if everyone just gave all the money they have we would only need them to give $1000 more than that before we would need them to then give another $1000. I don’t understand how people don’t get it and are so selfish as to expect a limit or some form of ROI. The more you stuffer the more it shows you really care.

What is the going rate for an OCS that holds  say 42K-48K fans? 90M ?  I would think that the money from ticket sales, concession and merchandise would help recoup that money very quickly.  That's how to show us that you truly want to put a product out there for the fans and make it our own.  Not some rented out TSA experience.  Yes its an NFL stadium but it is not the same experience for the players or the fans.

It created expectations that could not be met. I know I know we loved it when it happened but it created a standard that was unrealistic for a young program. Indeed, it indirectly got Leavitt fired because a few donors thought we had peeked under him. We were not ready and it created an untenable situation. Certainly in the long run it got us nothing.

Worse. It created illusions/delusions of how easy it was to be in the upper levels of college football. We had very little "sweat equity" in the process and people had no idea what it really takes at that level ....... $$$$$$

Delusions for who, Trip?  Generally speaking of course.

Everything i've heard is an ocs will cost around $300 million. We should have built the IPF back in 2005 and the ocs afterwards when we had the base to do it. Doug and Judy made a big mistake and we have never recovered from it.

Absolutely correct…we were plucked from nowhere and that is where we were returned,

Delusions for who, Trip?  Generally speaking of course.  It might hurt to say.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
