A look at Tulsa, which hosts USF on Friday at H.A. Chapman Stadium

Nickame: Golden Hurricane
Record: 1-4 (0-2 AAC)
Win: Central Arkansas, 38-27 Charlotte, 49-31
Losses: at Texas, 28-21; Arkansas State, 29-20; at Temple, 31-17; at Houston, 41-26
Coach: Philip Montgomery (fourth season, 19-24)
S&P+ ranking: 95

The breakdown: The Golden Hurricane gave turnover-prone Houston everything it wanted for three quarters Thursday before the Cougars rallied for 24 fourth-quarter points. Redshirt freshman QB Seth Boomer, apparently the starter going forward, had some nice moments at Houston in his collegiate debut (13-for-31, 227 yards, one TD, one INT) before succumbing to a fumble and interception.

Their schedule has been a lot tougher than ours to this point (Texas, Temple, Houston). We need to learn some discipline during this short week. If we take care of the ball and keep our penalty yardage to a minimum we should be fine. Should.

This is one of the teams I always forget is in this AAC conference.  Hope we win.

Also note that Tulsa's starting QB and running back did not play in the Houston game.

They are starting the freshman QB again this week.

"The strength of their offense is their offensive line. … They're a team that does a really good job of running the football. We know this, it's gonna be physical and…we have to win the line of scrimmage. If we don't win the line of scrimmage, then we have no chance." — USF coach Charlie Strong.

We haven't done a good job of this all season!  I hope our defense has a come to Jesus moment and we are able to stop this run heavy offense.

Physical opponent and Friday night spells disaster for USF.

Or maybe we just aren't that great up front and we're playing to our potential.  There is nothing that says our players are better than the other team's players as much as we wish that was the case.

The speed, recruiting rankings, and standings are all measurables that say our players are better than theirs
