It was actually 10. Also, was it their 10 best players? I don't think so. Looks like their only real loss was Carney.

In August, the Tar Heels suspended 13 football players

"Not every player is sitting at the same time, and the suspensions vary in length.

They mostly occur across the Heels’ first four games:

  • 11 players out for Week 1 against Cal
  • 10 players out for Week 2 against ECU
  • Eight players out for Week 3 against UCF
  • Eight players out for Week 4 against Pitt

“Multiple players share the same position, so to protect the health and safety of the students, the NCAA approved a request to stagger certain suspensions,” UNC said."

Apparently the new DC at ECU is really good.   Weve seen firsthand how a change at DC can transform a defense.  I will go ahead and attribute our poor offensive performance to that.

Aren't most big plays due to a team taking advantage of a defensive mistake?

The two plays to Salomon, against Illinois late in the game, and against ECU, there was NOBODY on him. Just a miscommunication on defense. We won't be able to count on that happening week in, week out.

That GT win looks worse and worse every week.

Here's why:  "He then embarked on a successful 20-year full-time coaching career which included stops at Illinois State (1996-1999), Pittsburgh (2000-2002), Clemson (2003-2008), USF (2009) and Fordham (2012-2013) before turning Jacksonville State's defense into one of the nation's premier units."

We’re kind of having a season like Miami did last year.  They won a bunch of close games in the 4th quarter that could have gone the other away and then got exposed at the end with 3 straight losses.  Granted, we’re not playing a schedule like Miami but I see some similarities.
