As bad as he played at times today he just had the SECOND best day passing in USF history. Second only to Q's game against ucf last year.

He looked lost out there sometimes. But showed moxie when it mattered.

Not to be critical, while I have watched him, does it seem to you like he is a one read QB? If the WR or RB is open, he throws it, if he is not, he runs? Am I off base. Nice come back win today.

Good point. I saw other players open today and he was focused on one guy. Of course it is easy for me to say that. I hope this is just one  inconsistent game for him. Keep in mind he is still learning as this is only the seventh week in pads.

It certainly feels like it. I've noticed him staring down receivers at times. UI just wasn't good enough to take advantage of it. The Illini were getting a lot of early pressure and unfortunately it took him three quarters to settle down. The penalties didn't help.

Was going to say the same thing. Read somewhere (no link sorry) that the knock on him when he was with Bama and AZ State was that he struggled with going through the progressions.

yes. he is also limited in his passes... He can throw deep or he can throw 100 mph bullets. he needs to work on his touch.

Yes, so far he is one read. But the winning TD pass was his second read. It was designed for McCans and the safety jumped the route.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
