In my opinion the difference in managing and fund raising for an SEC team vs a program like ours is the equivalent to trying to recruit for an SEC program vs recruiting for an AAC program. Jurich has been through it. In my mind that's an advantage. We wouldn't be losing with Long or anyone with background. I just think Jurich brings a different skill set. Long is solid, but does't move the needle. There's certainly going to be growing pains with him used to an SEC level of support and donors, etc. which could be a major problem. Who knows if he can get people to pony up that haven't before vs. people who always give and trying to get them to give a little more. I'm with you on the idea that Jurich can (theoretically) get us from 0-60 like he did with Louisville. Not to mention, hiring Jurich sends a very loud message that we're serious about making moves. Jeff Long says, "He everybody, we'd sure like to be big time and, look, we hired a guy who was once big time. See, we're serious. Pinky swear." Tom Zurich says, "Open your ******* checkbooks! We're all in!"

If there's a candidate out there who has had success in a city exactly like Tampa and a school exactly like ours, feel free to throw out their name.

Another plain vanilla hire who will contribute toward USF being stuck in G5 oblivion forever. Why can’t Judy and this hiring committee see what is plainly a terrible mistake they are making?!? USF fired Stan Heath, made an offer to a guy without his degree, and then hired a guy who made the men's bball program even worse than our bad times. That's three awful moves in a row. I think there was a search committee and all of that for the post-firing of Stan Heath. Sooo... now, I watch and I wait. I trust nothing! Nothing!
