Why don't we wait to hire a search firm until after we reach out to obvious candidates?

Don't they do this bc of the FOI act? So, they wouldn't have to realease information on the search?

Great....search firms. Didn't need a search firm for Willie Taggart.

They used a firm to set up back up candidates, in the event they didn't get Charlie Strong. But that wasn't necessary. https://www.thedailystampede.com/2016/12/15/13975574/charlie-strong-introductory-press-conference-tweetcap-usf-bulls-texas-mark-harlan-willie-taggart

"

Harlan said the search firm was used to “make sure we had other candidates that were able to be part of the process if we needed to go there.”

Those other candidates weren’t necessary because Harlan and the Bulls got their man. Welcome aboard Coach Strong."

When I hear "Search Firm" I think of Skip Holtz. http://www.usforacle.com/news/view.php/839885/A-new-era-looms

Don't know if he is the guy that lead the search for Harlan or not. Not sure if he was there when that selection was made.  Was told way back that the person that was running the Sports Management Program pushed for Harlan when no one else knew much about him. So if the same guy I'm less hopeful than I was before this was announced.
