As long as CCS is here, I expect our defense will be solid and will be able to keep us in most games, even if our offense takes a step back at first.

We will likely be in closer games and not score 30+ points nearly as often, but that is to be expected.

Hopefully, our coaches will find a way to make the most of what we have on offense and that will be sufficient to at least get us a winning record and a bowl game. Anything more than that will be  gravy.

I expect that UCF will be the odds on favorite in 2018, but at least we get them at home.

Defense had a big let down at Tulane in the 4th Quarter.   Hopefully that will motivate them for the Houston game.

The new G5's strategy to close the revenue gap:

1- Hire an ex-P5 coach using their severance money as their salary.

2- Collect a substantial buyout when another P5 program hires them.

3- Rinse & Repeat

I think USF will be something like + $9 million if CCS leaves.

That is a positive I guess, but I don't like the lack of stability, and constant rebuilding. Would be cool to look forward to the Taggart/Frost match-up year in, year out. As soon as a coach proves he's worth a crap, he's off to the P5. Truly is like the Farm system in Baseball. AAC=Triple-A. Hope the Big 12 reconsiders expansion before too long.

Would Strong be looking to make the jump to a big program so soon after he completely failed at Texas?

He has it made at USF. He makes good money (isn't Texas still paying him, too?),  he is great at recruiting in FL, and he doesn't have to deal with the pressure from fans and boosters that he would face at an SEC program.

I think a team that has an SEC or ACC schedule and picks up any coach that had  only 1 good season in their last 5 with a loaded team and SOS rank 125/130 will soon regret it.

Here is a list of college football coaches.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_NCAA_Division_I_FBS_football_coaches

Sort it by "First Season" and you'll find that there are only a dozen who have been in their positions since 2007.  So depending on how a person describes longevity, there doesn't seem to be a ton of stability in the college football coaching business.

We are certainly not alone in having coaches come and go.
