only time we threw the go route all game.  Taggart would cal 8 a game. he knew it was Flowers best pass and our receivers have speed and height advantage. what a joke this offense has become. anybody who thinks it's execution isn't  paying attention.

The worst part is that I remember the coaches saying in the offseason that we would be stretching out the field vertically more instead of horizontally with screens. I loved this idea because that is the strength of Q's game. 2 games in and this hasn't happened at all.

The reason I feel the playcalling was crap plain and simple is Gilbert/Flowers were being handed matchup wins all game long and refused to take advantage of those matchups.

The game he called had more of a feel of a pre-season game where he wanted to work on something rather than care abought the outcome of the game.

Scantling is 6-3 and was matched up against a 5-8 CB in man coverage and didn't look his way in the 2nd half.

The Stonybrook coach said before the game they wanted to take away our run and make us beat them through the air.

We have a QB that has proven he can hit long passes and is a Heisman candidate because he has proven he can do it in in the air.

Maybe the rain hurt early, but it should have been bombs away until the defense backed out of run defense. A winning OC makes adjustments. This guy kept running the same thing like they were working on it. It worked because of the talent and depth advantage, but he better be more flexible to adjust against the FBS schools.

We have a tight window of winning the conference this season. The whole thing set up perfectly to do so this year.

Obviously the reason our fans are pissed is we lived through the same crap for almost 4 years and coming in second or even not making the. Championship game this season is not acceptable. Not with this schedule and the talent and experience returning.

Could the issue be trust? That the coaches and players don't trust each other, or know each other well enough to yet? Why call plays you don't think they will be able to execute?

The guys are running stiff and we haven't played loose yet.

I honestly think they don't like CCS as much as they did Xcwt. CCS has no swagger and is boring!!! Xcwt was aggressive and let them show off their talents.

We should have hired the OC from Clemson.

Yeah but you keep play calling vanilla if you don't think they will be able to execute, not because they don't like a coach. I think that also demonstrates that the coaches don't seem to know what our guys are capable of & that the feeling out process is still going on.

I agree, but our team shows very little emotion. The play calling sucks, but coming out flat 2 weeks in a row is on the coaching. I was just saying so far I don't think CCS and Gilbert are winning over the players.

If trust is the issue, can the players and coaches do this Monday and then get back to playing real football!?!?!

Welp we'll see next week whether Strong has been holding back or if this is who we are. No point in saving anything once you start conference play.

I'm not expecting it to be much different than the first two games.

Seems like Gilbert doesn't understand how to use QF. Just watch some tape from last year and see how Willie used him. Basically unstoppable. Hopefully he makes a **** adjustment heading into next weeks game. I think I've seen 1 play in the first two games that were designed qb runs. That's not nearly enough when that is his strength.

I hope QF speaks up and tells him this week to implement some of the stuff they ran last year. The wrinkles Willie had in that offense were beautiful. Bubble screen, then bubble screen pump fake with the WR taking off on a go route, etc.

That was a concern preseason based on his previous offenses.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
