Looks like Strong took a stab at our crappy fan base today.  Good for him.

I think the sub-par offensive performance wouldn't have been improved with 50k butts in seats, but Coach Strong does bring up a very valid point. Tampa Bay needs to do a better job of supporting its Bulls, whether our green and gold is playing Stony Brook or FSU.

There are ZERO excuses for a ranked USF team to be playing in less than 30-35k fans in the stands.

we have way too many so called fans, alumni that find excuses to not go to the games but are the first to cry that we belong in a power conference.

enough with the excuses show up and support the team.

Who's he really taking a stab at?  I can see if we were consistently filling the stadium last season and then no one showed up for the opener.  I think the die-hard fans were there. The students were there.  I think it's the casual Tampa Bay fan who was missing.  Can we really call them USF fans.  They don't show up if it's raining or if it's too hot, or if UF, FSU, Miami, etc is playing at the same time.

And the Big East was, simultaneously, the best and the worst thing to happen to us ...

It was a weak stab, if a stab at all, but no matter what it appears to be a deflection to perceived criticism of the offense in the first couple games.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
