ESPN is largely fluff. I hope they can change somehow...

Sounds like a great opportunity for these people to make a start-up. Cover some AAC games.

I'll give a little sympathy, but only because he let Rocky beat him on the head on national TV.

Now that he's jobless is there any way we can arrange a McMurphy/Leavitt boxing match? I'd pay to see that over Canelo's next fight.

He breaks a ton of news and is pretty well connected.  He will land on his feet somewhere.

Yeah, he was pretty much their go to guy for NCAA Football

The cord-cutting is hitting ESPN hard. The empire will have to evolve or continue decomposing. They've overspent for their college football content, so the on-air personalities and writers take the fall.

I think it is also just a generational switch away from sports viewing. The younger folks just aren't as into it.

I think it goes beyond that to the decline of interest in sports in general, football in particular.

I don't agree with that.  I think "younger folks" watch sports just as much or more, just differently (i.e. on newer forms of media).

I know it's fun to say that McMurphy got "fired," but there's a big difference between getting laid off and getting fired.
