When a coach says we're doing something totally opposite than what they've learned, I wince a little. I definitely think CCS knows what he's doing on D more than the previous regime, but I hope this doesn't take the whole season to adapt. Please no.

From what i watched in interviews today is biggest takeaway is that we are going to run a single safety instead of two.  Dixon is someone who the staff wants on the field as a playmaker so they are gonna move him around.  More aggressive defense.

As a principle I'm not a huge fan of moving someone from safety to linebacker. Or from LB to DE, or from DE to DT. It generally means you're masquerading someone small at the position. Not suggesting this is a bad move, per se, just from afar it smells funny.

When Dixon was being recruited lots of analysts and coaches thought he could potentially grow into a LB at the college level. This isn't super surprising imo.

Kean had 2 interceptions today

When did Kean switch to playing for the defense?

I agree. Trying to put a linebacker at DT sounds like a recipe for disaster. It could very well be that they want him to have the technique down to serve as a backup or a passing down guy. Hope that's the case. Also hope our JUCO DE gets here quick.

Or it could mean the guy ate himself into a line position because he can't operate in the space the LBs need to.

At 39, I can put on 3 lbs at the movies in Snowcaps and popcorn. I can also drop 5 lbs with my morning coffee if no one bothers me in the bathroom for 20 minutes.

Ha, you beat me to it.  I can drop a 5lb brown bass regularly.

Please yes, change it all. Last years d was an  abomination and cost us a conference championship.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how much a college athlete has to actually eat to put on 10 lbs?  Especially with his metabolism probably at an all-time high as he works out preparing to play football?

I can't imagine it would be cheap to feed such a person.

That's why they need the per diem, remember?
