The question is which was a better year, not what was a better team.  This past season was the best overall season by far.

I agree with this too.

I think 2007 was the better team though if they played head to head. That defense was nasty and the offense was good enough to cause the 2016 defense some serious problems.

Others have mentioned it, but, for those not around during that season, the emotions can't be explained. Being in the stands at Auburn and that WVU game, I still get chills thinking about it. I remember telling an Auburn fan that I wish we had this atmosphere (to which he replied, "I wish we had your team"). Then, just a couple weeks later, we were playing WVU in an atmosphere that was every bit as good as Auburn. It was a different feeling. Hopefully 2017 will bring some of that feeling back.

All of that said, QF is the most exciting individual player to watch in my opinion in USF history.

Apis is correct.  It is asking which is the better season, not team.  2016 easily wins.  11 wins versus 9 wins.  2 losses versus 4 losses.  Our first ever final year ranking trumps being #2 for a week.  In fact I'm tired of hearing about that, it was 10 years ago and doesn't mean anything when you lose the next three weeks and drop out after an embarrasing bowl defeat.

Exactly.  I remember that Rutgers lost the following week much more than the week we held the #2 spot.

I ran it again and you are correct. 2016 won 34-17 case closed.

Ran it one last time and boom 2016 for the win.

LOL at the 07 Team only able to score 17 on the 16 D.

The 2016 defense is epically bad.

But was it Cosh-level bad? I don't think so. That was truly the worst defense I have seen at USF.

Statically yes. But our offense this past year was so much better.

I don't think the '07 team offense would have problems with the '16 defense.  We did not lose to non-BCS teams, even "good" ones, in fact we would usually win big.    I also think our offensive stats in '16 are the result of weak competition.  The only issue is the letdowns.  Which team would show up, the one that beat Auburn/WVU or the one that lost to Uconn, Rutgers and Cinci.

Yeah WhatifSports went down hill a long time ago, and most of their simulations have been garbage for 5 years. Their entire user base has pretty much fled and I wouldn't be shocked if FoxSports shuts it down in the next 3 years.

For me the most memorable season was 2007. But I was a student who attended 9 of the 13 games played. The rush of the first 6 games of that season has been unmatched in USF history.

I think 2016 was more successful for on field success. Winning 11 games and finishing in the top 20 are not only program firsts, but if the transition to Strong is successful puts USF as front runners to play in a New Year's Day bowl.
