Okay ... celebrating our 20th year and still have about the same number of die-hard fans as we did in the 1997 season.

We have a VERY exciting team that WINS ! 10-2 Record !!

Seems the best way currently to get more people attending is have "name" teams come in for the "average" fan looking for name recognition.

NEW PLAN:

  • Reduce our home games to 5.
  • Only sign Home & Away contracts with popular schools.
  • Play "One & Done" games away.

Frustrated after 20 years . . .

I can tell you what won't bring in new fans:

Stony Brook, Mass, Illinois, Cincy, Houston, Tulsa, and Temple.

Here's the problem I think we're going to have in future scheduling of P5 teams.  We're not a gimme win and we are not a, "quality" loss.  The P5 schools aren't going to want to risk a loss to us and ruin their playoff hopes.

This exactly. We're in an even tougher position now. We may get a better schedule in 2018 with a *couple* of P5 teams like Houston did this year, but I think the P5 took notice of their losses and won't want that to continue.

This is a great thread topic. I so wish I had a good answer here. Anyway to make the tickets dirt cheap for one year to get families to the game? I guess this is already possible on Stub Hub but tie it with an aggressive marketing  campaign?

Free parking worked for the Rays when Sternberg took over.

That does not work.

Winner, winner, taco dinner!

Deep analysis. I liked the  analytical part the best.

Another 10+ win season; championship title; more media coverage... more national recognition

Find ways to get out of this conference

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
