Our D should be stiff at the beginning,  but it needs to get lathered up I guess.

Sometimes you need some initial contact to warm you up to bring it.

I sure hope so, Sanjay. We've let some terrible running teams go crazy on our D in "bend but don't break" fashion. UConn actually has a decent O-line and running attack.

I prefer a D that doesn't bend. I'm all about a D that scores.

Depends on the position the offense puts you in. Sometimes the D is more successful when it bends ever so slightly so it can come at the right angle before it scores.

Would it be wrong to say our D needs to penetrate their backfield?

Not wrong at all.  They just need to make sure they get a quick release in the face of the QB as often as possible.

Or maybe they use two Tight Ends for extra protection.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
