Would you trade CWT for CLM straight up?

I think our bigger concern is CWT getting better looks once this season is over, no matter the recent extension.  He has turned a bottom dweller around and recruited well, he will get some looks and I believe he will take it, especially if the door closes on Big 12 expansion.  A CCG appearance and a strong bowl showing will raise his stock tremendously, he will have suitors.

"would" raise his stock.  This isn't a done deal.  We've beaten teams we should have, lost to one we should have. We haven't even started conference play and some on here think it is a given because we were selected in some preseason polls to win our division.  We need to let this play out. Just about a year ago on here most wanted him fired. What if we go 1 - 7 in conference play (not saying we will)?

You are correct.  I was one that wanted him gone midway through last year.  But, the FSU game aside, we are not just winning, we are putting up strong scores.  Lots to play out still, but I feel good about our CCG hopes by looking at how the rest of the conference has played.  Barring a Big East style collapse, CWT will have options is all I am saying.

No I wouldn't trade him willingly. He seems to love it here and seems to be doing very well for himself. He took a dumpster fire and took the time to build something worth being emotionally invested in again.

He can be great here and so can we. We have that option now when before we didn't.

Dang it!  You peaked my curiosity.  This year, none of the teams we have beat have winning records.

Towson is 1-2

Northern Illinois is 0-4

Syracuse is 2-2 (barely beat Uconn)

So I guess conference play will tell us a lot but I still like our chances.

Most of TBP wouldn't make that trade based on QB development alone.

I know what I am saying is pure speculation, but I think the strength of this USF team is in the Junior class, so I think if he leaves, it will be the year after next. Losing Sanchez, Mack, Johnson, MVS, Senat, Nichols, Fullwood, Abraham, some linemen, and Flowers.

All we lose this year is Adams (huge loss) and who else? Harris? Godwin? Awoloke? Amichia? Those are plenty manageable losses

Plus, the buyout would be less if he stayed an extra year.
