Strangely....it seems like the timing of the FSU USF game could actually play a factor into "our pitch" to the B12 since the proposals and our game will play out right next to one another. If we were to upset them we would probably be considered one of the hottest teams in the country

and I don't care what you say, if we are 4-0, 5-0 whatever ranked, and favored the rest of the schedule with murmurs of a cfb playoff berth, the B12 will take notice! Here's to hoping we play lights out!

I'm right there with you.  This feels to me a lot like Big East expansion.  We were the dark horse then just creeping along playing ball with not a lot coming from the administration.  I don't think our fans appreciate the value that USF has to conferences.  There is a reason within 8 years of us starting a football team we were in a BCS conference.  We beat out schools with more success and schools that have been playing football for a 50 plus years.  The Tampa market has so much value in terms of media size (and that doesn't consider how big the surrounding communities are such as Manatee etc...), recruiting, location, school size, alumni base... now this trip around you add academics.  A hot USF team would once again be the talk of the nation.  This team has something the others didn't, the ability to finish the job.  No school has blown up as quick as USF in our short history.  I don't think our fans consider the metrics sometimes... We had a rough run of 4 years but now we're coming off a 8 win season and could follow it up with a conference championship.  I think in 4 weeks USF will be a hot commodity.  I think we can move to the inside lane... just keep doing what we're doing and win.

The report says each finalist is expected to make presentations to the Big 12 in the next few weeks, "presumably in Dallas." After reviewing the candidates, Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby and his staff will trim the list to two candidates.

Only two final candidates per the report.

True, that's what the report says. Same reports suggests they may table expansion until next year. Point is, anything can happen!

Why does the report list 6 aac schools then say "a couple more aac schools" are being considered?

The only thing we really know is that ECU has been cut.  Otherwise it sounds to me that they simply went from 20 teams to 10 still under consideration.  I imagine there is a flurry of public record requests being submitted which seem to be in conflict with each team signing a non disclosure.

It still sounds like the media has no idea aside from MWC and ECU getting denied.

That other thread is for rumors and general expansion malaise

There was no official announcement, thus this is merely a rumor!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
