What we did need was Obama to keep his promise about shaking up college sports to make it a more level playing field for football. He wanted a 12 to 16 team playoff to give every division 1 school a shot. We now know that he lied just to get more votes. 

With the rise in CTE concerns even veteran former NFL athletes like Terry Bradshaw feel that contact sports will be phased out in the next 10 to 20 years. Right now there is a trend starting with NFL athletes retiring early.

Schools like UCF and USF are funding their programs in hopes of getting into a P5 (or P4 if it comes to that) in which the investment will have been worth it.  If either program fails to get called up to the big boy leagues in the next round of realignment then there will be some serious re-thinking of the athletic programs.

The good thing that both programs have going for it are large enrollment so they can spread the wealth.
