  1. Schools like UCF and USF are funding their programs in hopes of getting into a P5 (or P4 if it comes to that) in which the investment will have been worth it. If either program fails to get called up to the big boy leagues in the next round of realignment then there will be some serious re-thinking of the athletic programs. The good thing that both programs have going for it are large enrollment so they can spread the wealth.
  2. True, but we are already in the P5 situation with a much lessor group of teams.
  3. Interesting. Not a horrible outcome if it were true, but not the best either. I would have to think in some ways it would be superior to having to go to Texas every other game.
  4. I generally don't do twitter, but this popped up in my news feed.
  5. So this guy is out there spouting off but probably another Tuxedo Yoda... Twitter about Expansion
  6. Probably the same might be said for either team, but there can be no denying that the combo if the two would allow for a big influence in the Florida market.
  7. Well technically we both have the same number of wins....this year....
  8. He was touted as UL's next great QB until Teddy Bridgewater committed and enrolled early. That is when the pressure really hit him. Smith came from one of the poorest and most violent neighborhoods in Louisville. I doubt he had much in the way of proper guidance about academics or the importance of a college diploma. I hope he can get a degree from N. Texas and make it out of the trap.
  9. It was a combination of both. He was having trouble getting through the NCAA clearinghouse after he signed. Then there was an indication that he wanted to go back to UL because of pressure he was getting at home. GOL said he would not release him to go back to UL. In the end it did not matter because he was declared ineligible by the NCAA. He ended up the next year at WKU. Failed out there, went to community college then signed on at N. Texas where I think he is currently second string. His whole story is a sad testament to how crazy and problematic the recruiting process is. Here is a kid that was under a lot of pressure about where he was going to play football when he should have been pressured to hit the books.
  10. From what I understand not a single player involved in any of the alleged violations ever played a down for UCF. The big one was a 4 star QB Demarcus Smith who was committed to UL. He never even got on campus.
  11. Kelly was an amazing recruiter of South Florida for UCF. He was one of these guys that the Miami players saw as a father figure. He was there under Tribble as AD. Tribble was a complete douchebag. He was hired for his connections with the Orange Bowl and Big East. While Kelly may or may not have been completely truthful with the NCAA, I think he was probably lead astray by Tribble. UCF had been on probation for self reported texting of recruits by coaches that had left before I think Kelly was hired. Most of the NCAA violations were related to men's basketball and were direct violations by Tribble himself. My guess is that Kelly followed Tribble down the wrong path and was swept up with the whirlwind. I do know that UCF fans were very upset to see him go and he is still seen as a good guy by many. I would love to have seen him back at UCF
  12. He was smoking what we all were smoking back then. The wrong stuff.
  13. You seem like someone who has to have the last word so now you have it.
  14. I think some of you are just being oversensitive because I am a UCF fan. I was a fan on this board at that time. Obviously the guy who made the statement I reacted to was not. Maybe I could have worded it better so it did not sound like an attack as it was not meant to be, but it was how it all went down.
