My guess is diversion and a team suspension with a shot at getting back on the team after completing certain rules laid in front of him; much like the countless guys suspended for weed that we have had over the past few years.

 

As for the smoking vs. pills argument. As was pointed out earlier in FL(and Federally) possession of weed is actually a bigger offense legally then Xanax(title I vs Title IV). While I don't condone popping prescription meds without prescription; this kid does not deserve to be kicked off the team completely and will have a shot at coming back next season.
