Just when one thought this thread couldn't any more ridiculous, a college football = boxing comparison pops up .... Gotta love the TBP.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

I call 100% ******** on boxing EVER having been on network TV and getting better ratings than most sports.

You must be a youngster. I will give you just two quotes, you should read the entire article.

http://www.boxingscene.com/pbc-on-nbc-reflecting-back-on-boxing-network-tv--88030

...Ali's power to pull pepole on national television never wavered as his 1977 fight with Earnie Shavers was aired live on NBC and drew a 37.3 rating and a 57 sheare, the highested rated program for that week....

...CBS was also delivering primetime boxing with their Pabst Blue Ribbon Bouts on Wednesday nights. This series ran from 1948-1955 and averaged a 24.1 share through the duration of the series....

For comparison, Ohio State vs Oregon this year drew a 16.1 share.

You were saying?

So it was on network before cable and PPV existed? No ****.

Ok, let's try again.

Boxing got much higher ratings than college football has EVER gotten.  EVER

How hard is this to comprehend?

Even the fight of the week with a bunch of no names got higher ratings than the biggest college football game ratings ever.

Epic as in D-Day or epic as in Bay of Pigs?
