  1. UConn is bowl eligible and they won the CONFLict trophy. What more could they want?
  2. I've had enough beer to reduce my capacity to think straight but a question comes to mind: Is it possible for a 6-6 UConn to be left out of a bowl game, thus providing them motivation to need to keep up the intensity against Temple?
  3. I'm torn on this sentiment. I'm usually not about running up the score or kicking someone when they're down. But this is UCF, it's our rivalry game and we need to kick their teeth in. They would have done the same to us if they could but even at their best they couldn't. However, once we have a good lead, we need to pull our starters to avoid injuries especially since a CCG might be in play and we need a healthy team. But if we can put some guys in to get playing time, keep our foot on the gas, and 64-12 them, then so be it. It fuels the rivalry.
  4. Is it bad that this is the part I find hardest to believe about any of the preview articles that have been posted so far?
  5. I was really impressed with that drive. Only wish it would have ended with a TD.
  6. I like CWT but i'm not sure 5-7 is going to cut it if Harland is confident that he can find better. Memphis is, on paper, the best team in the conference, we lost by a TD, and we look even better than back then. If we are truly making progress, with the way we are playing, we should be able to beat either Navy or ECU (or both). If we drop the games against Navy and ECU, I think Harland is putting out feelers (if he hasn't already). Cincy and Temple are as tough if not tougher, so if we lose to Navy and ECU I think we'll drop both Temple and Cincinatti. At that point, what we've seen is improvement, yes, but only enough to play around with the bottom feeders of the conference. The goal is to stand out amongst the members of the AAC like Memphis, Temple, and Houston, so we need to beat them. Sure, we're showing some progress but that needs to include a win against one of the better teams in the conference. We go 1-4 to close out, that means after 3 full years, we are 11-25, no bowl games, 1-7 against the P5, and we still aren't beating the middle to top of the conference. It's a gamble to keep him around another year because if we keep him, we need to stand out. Bowl game will not be the goal, finishing at or near the top of the conference will be. If you watch your 3rd year coach lay an egg four games in a row, will you have confidence that he will be that much better next year? It's unacceptable, especially if you can get a good replacement in. However, it's a tough year to do that, with Miami and UCF needing replacements as well. We don't want to fight those two for a coach, mess up our recruiting cycle, and have current players jumping ship after losing CWT. Harland is looking for every reason to keep CWT. We need the stability, he looks to be growing, he's a good recruiter, and lord knows we don't want to pay yet another coach to coach somewhere else.
  7. I think he did that time White scowled at him during the Tulsa game.
  8. According to this flyer, their Left Tackle has amassed 399 yards of offense?
  9. During the numerous uniform threads over the years, how many people on this board have said something to the effect of "They could wear pink tu-tus for all I care as long as they win!" Well, here's the next best thing.
  10. I wouldn't say there's no way he gets fired. I'd agree that missing out on a bowl game does not necessarily mean the end of the line for CWT. If the team continues to play the way it has and still ends up under .500, I think CWT may have made the case for a stay of execution. Presumably, this would include a win over both SMU and UCF, and if not both, than just one of those and an upset of one of the other teams on our schedule. I think he'd still keep his job at 5-7, but anything below that would mean some sort of collapse and I think he'd be on his way out at that point. The team has to play through the last six games like the first six in order for him to stay.
  11. That moment when your backup running back is the best quarterback on the team...
  12. That was Awesome!!! ^^^^^ which one are we? Obviously the blind one in the wheelchair.
  13. Didn't Cuse lose their starting QB? Yes, but their backup looks better than their starter. Half the board would say the same is true about us
  14. Supposedly Jimbos been scheduling 11:30 scrimmages all preseason. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/no-11-florida-state-prepared-early-morning-kickoff-161016540--ncaaf.html
  15. Losing out in conference realignment is no reason for getting rid of Judy. Go by academic merit alone. We're fine where we're at. Leave her in place until she's ready to go or we clearly regress in academics. IMO, we're falling victim to the "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" routine. We were confident that Leavitt was costing us too much money for the results we were getting. Not ready for USF to foul up a search for the most important position there is.
  16. My wife's family had tickets from Day 1 and this will be our first year not there. I started going in '03 and once I graduated in '08, started paying for my own ticket with the group. Mother in law worked at USF so we were able to pay them over the course of the season (tickets directly withdrawn from her paycheck) but she got laid off so we couldn't do that anymore. Needed to pay for 3 tickets including my daughter and can't afford it anymore. I'll be back for a game here and there but until I either get a job at USF, a promotion, or don't need to pay for daycare anymore, I won't be a season ticket holder.
  17. They haven't earned the right to wear those, yet.
  18. Some observations: Glad that they're putting a Football Preview out, but geez. I know the state of the football program is bad and it's journalism, but can the Football Preview at least highlight some reasons for fans to show up? Sad Taggart doesn't make me want to spend my Saturdays at Ray Jay. Excluding the cover, I counted 15 pages of ads out of 22 pages of space. Otherwise, we got a page on the Respect-A-Bull campaign, some half page fillers such as depth charts and schedules, a spread on the sorry state of the team (including a panorama of the empty stadium), and a uniform feature. I'm pumped. Seriously, though, there's a couple of OK pieces (a highlight of Mack and a few small profiles of several players) but nothing providing much insight. It's OK for the casual fan, but doesn't appear that much thought was put into it. My favorite is the 'Scouting USF's slate of opponents' article which features such hits from Jeff Odom such as: On Temple's 2014 season: "If it weren't for a skid in which they lost five of seven down the stretch, the Owls would have been in conversation for the conference title." On the Syracuse game: "One of the Big East's best rivalries finally returns."
  19. The route against #9 Louisville in 2005 turned some heads, too.
  20. Not seeing a diss here. You know as well as I do that sports outlets can't agree on a top-25 let alone a ranking of all of the FBS teams. What I would look at, is are we ranked in the correct general area? For example, if we divy up the nations teams into quartile, where do we belong? First-Quartile: Top-25 teams or knocking on the door. Mostly P5 with an odd G5 here or there. Second-Quartile: Middle of the road P5 teams; upper-level G5 teams. Near lock for bowl eligibility. Third-Quartile: Lower-level P5 teams; Middle of the road G5 teams. Bowl contention. Fourth-Quartile: Lower-level G5 teams; not likely for bowl eligibility. Will probably have a losing record. Look at where we are. We've lost 35 of our last 50 games. Last year was an even less impressive than it sounds 4-8 record. One of the worst offensive performances in college football. This year, we still have question marks on both sides of the ball, new offensive/defensive schemes and coaches, and are on the verge of losing another head coach and falling into several more years of turmoil. We were placed in the fourth-quartile, that's where we are right now. Actually a bit surprised that there are 17 teams ranked below us at this point.
  21. I thought this was going to be an attendance thread...
  22. https://rivals.yahoo.com/bwi/football/recruiting/commitments/2015/usf-655 As of 5/13 he had signeda LOI to Charlotte. According to the link above, he committed to us on 5/26 but is listed as "has not signed."
