  1. In five years: We'll be complaining about our current football coach and wishing we still had Taggart because at least he was a decent recruiter. We will pine for the days of Skip Holtz because at least he made games exciting. Jim Leavitt will be a mythical figure on TBP but long forgotten on campus. We'll be complaining about our current basketball coach and wishing we still had Antigua because at least he was a decent recruiter. We will pine for the days of Stan Heath because he took us to the tourney and deserved more time. Our teams will be competing in the Mid American-East-West-USA-Belt Conference.
  2. Clearly this man has been looking only at statistics as opposed to watching the games. The blame can't be placed solely on White. The receivers drop the ball (sometimes even leading to a pick) almost as often as he messes up a throw. The OL has been looking better the past couple games but I wouldn't call the product over the course of the season as a whole 'respectable.' Mack is a great back for sure, but since his game against WCU, he's had one TD and is averaging 3.8 yards a carry. That's not necessarily his fault, but the writer makes it sound like all we need is a better quarterback whereas in reality, there needs to be better execution and fundamentals at all of the positions.
  3. We scored 4 TDs against WCU. It was the first win against an FBS opponent under CWT where we scored a TD. It was also the first win under CWT where we had a passing TD.
  4. NC State defender injured. May be out for the season. Early reports say he busted his gut laughing at our Offense.
  5. Speaking of gimmicks, whatever happened to that green and gold shovel that Leavitt came up with?
  6. Hopefully it's better than the shirt they gave away for last year's home opener: "We got our butts whipped by McNeese State and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt."
  7. Saban makes noise about only playing P5 schools but that didn't stop Alabama last year from playing against one FCS school and a Georgia State that was 5 games removed from being an FCS.
  8. Loved Jenkins. The four things that immediately came to my mind thinking about him: 1. The KR for a TD against Cincy in 2007. Had 192 KR yards that game. 2. Same game, his big hit that knocked the helmet off of Marcus Barnett. 3. Probably most infamous, the hit on Drew Hixon against Tennessee Tech in '04. That was my first USF game as a student. 4. The outrage I felt when the Bucs took Aqib Talib over him.
  9. Well, I'm not a huge fan of the new helmets and it's hard to tell because the photo quality is bad, but I think they look better now that I see what they look like being worn with the uniform. I'm sure they'd look even better if I saw what they looked like in the endzone.
  10. Everyone agrees with the last point Not me. They need to expand right now. We've got a 50% chance that they mix up USF and UCF again and send the invite to the wrong school
  11. I met Ben Busbee a few months ago at a family Mardi Gras party. Didn't know he was a friend of the family. Really nice guy, though. We talked USF football for a few minutes (what else?). For what it's worth he thinks this year isn't going to be much better but we should break out the next one.
  12. True, but we won those games. That's part of what makes them so special. Would they have been as much fun if we fielded, say, last year's team in those games? It'd probably be as fun as the Louisville or Miami game last year. The only time those were fun was the team intro, kickoff, and then when we were making the few good plays that the team mustered. How fun would those have been on the road? If, after the pomp and circumstance of the War Eagle or Chief Osceola was over, USF went down 0-28 after the first quarter without crossing the 50 yd line, you'd be having a bad time. I question the "I don't care if we get blown out, I want 'Bama logic." I want to play the big boys, too. I think we should schedule them every chance we get. But I also expect that we field a competitive team against them. THAT'S what makes it fun. We don't have to win. Playing Oregon or Florida until the half before getting blown out is one thing. We lost but it was fun to a degree because we thought we had a chance, we fought them tough, and we were able to enjoy ourselves somewhat. But getting steamrolled from kickoff to victory formation is not fun no matter who you play. That's not a football roadtrip, it's just an expensive weekend massacre followed by a long drive/flight home trying to avoid the Sportscenter 'highlights.'
  13. Easy enough solution to empty seats. Just install an Otto Pilot system. Instant sell out.
  14. I'm going to go with Ean Randolph for 80. Led the team in receiving yards and TDs in '06 over Taurus Johnson and Amarri Jackson. He was also arguably the best punt returner in the conference that year. The two things that I'll remember most are: His 3 PR for TDs against FIU (2 were called back) and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBmlNi5Gv7U
  15. I'm going to guess Mike McFarland runs away with this because he's the only one with any appreciable stats. But...did Mike McFarland ever wrestle John Cena for the WWE Championship? Dan Rodimer did.
  16. I think that refers to 'The Flutie Effect' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flutie_Effect
  17. It certaintly helps loosen up the bowel movement though, doesn't it?
  18. That statement makes us look weak. Wish he would have just said that they couldn't reach an agreement rather than basically saying the game would be too hard. Would he turn down an ACC invite because we might have to play FSU, Maryland, and Clemson or Miami on the road? Would he turn down a playoff or bowl invite because we might have to play an elite team after a tough schedule? It makes it look like he thinks the football team will still be struggling in Taggarts 3rd season. I realize it'd be a tall order to play arguably the top 2 teams in the nation in the same year but that's what good teams have to do. It's an opportunity to play a top team on the national stage. Guess we're content being on ESPN3 that week instead.
  19. That sounds a lot different than Saban's "P5 teams should only play each other" talk. Guess Battle is on a different page than him, at least when the almighty dollar is involved.
