True, but we won those games. That's part of what makes them so special. Would they have been as much fun if we fielded, say, last year's team in those games? It'd probably be as fun as the Louisville or Miami game last year. The only time those were fun was the team intro, kickoff, and then when we were making the few good plays that the team mustered. How fun would those have been on the road? If, after the pomp and circumstance of the War Eagle or Chief Osceola was over, USF went down 0-28 after the first quarter without crossing the 50 yd line, you'd be having a bad time.
I question the "I don't care if we get blown out, I want 'Bama logic." I want to play the big boys, too. I think we should schedule them every chance we get. But I also expect that we field a competitive team against them. THAT'S what makes it fun. We don't have to win. Playing Oregon or Florida until the half before getting blown out is one thing. We lost but it was fun to a degree because we thought we had a chance, we fought them tough, and we were able to enjoy ourselves somewhat. But getting steamrolled from kickoff to victory formation is not fun no matter who you play. That's not a football roadtrip, it's just an expensive weekend massacre followed by a long drive/flight home trying to avoid the Sportscenter 'highlights.'
