Remember too, there is the elevated pedestrian overpass over Fowler connecting USF and MOSI. If someday a stadium was South of the Sun Dome, that overpass could be very useful during football season.

It really would help the museum increase traffic, so it's no wonder it was well-received. LOL at the quote

MOSI ... is not competing well when stacked up against other science museums nationwide.

Everything's a competition these days, I really didn't  realize MOSI's across the US competed with each other, though. How naive of me.

But one thing's very true about that land for all you guys that are ready to count it for an OCS (IF they move MOSI):

that is 80 acres in the epicenter of what could be a spectacular innovation district that could attract the headquarters of high-tech companies.

:o  ruh, roh, raggy.

You left out part of the quote:  “Whether or not that’s USF using the space,†he said, “that is 80 acres in the epicenter of what could be a spectacular innovation district that could attract the headquarters of high-tech companies.â€

I also highlighted the operative word.  This is one persons opinion of what the site could be used for.

Left out the part on purpose, wasn't relevant to the fact that USF would likely have competition for the land. And you're right it's only one person's opinion, but that one person is a noted real estate developer who's got his eye out for things like this. To build an OCS there, you have to tear down the building. To build a business HQ you have to convert/update/add on, which is considerably cheaper than building a new facility.

It would be FAR cheaper to keep the building and demolish the crosswalk than v.v.

What? A ridiculous prognostication from the voice of reason? Wow.

If Cuz Ricky corroborates, game over...

The cross walk is owned by the county, or city, I assume.

While an OCS could work there, I would like it on the traditional footprint of USF, but, that could provide some much needed parking. which is why I mentioned the overpass.

I saw so many mosimax movies :(

That said, I guess you could have a game day tradition where stuff happens on campus and then people could walk across the sky bridge without too much drama. It's conveniently close to the athletic stuff.

OCS could be neat.

Booster tours with Imax highlight/propaganda videos during tailgating hours. Could do wonders for the gameday atmosphere...

...and don't tear down the ropes course! My kids would look forward to game day a lot more if that and the domeMAX was part of the package.

If I had the dough, I'd buy them out and build the off campus OCS.
