I think the Big 12 would look to add 4 teams whenever their time comes.

+1

It's not about football or basketball success, it's about (2) overall reputation including academics and athletics, but even more, (1) it's bout how many eyeballs you bring for advertising dollars and ticket revenue.

We are not next in line. Not even close. Not until we fix the eyeballs and butts-in-seats problems

We need them both to be IN this year.  That's when the bellyaching by the other conferences that DO have championship games will start.

Bingo!

The bad thing is if the P5 conferences don't like how things turn out and immediately go to an 8 team playoff.  Then you can pretty much say goodbye to expansion because all the P5 should have at least one team in there with several having 2.

The Big 12 doesn't want to add anyone.   They want to stay at 10 and if they have to will petition to have a championship game with 10 teams is what I have read.   Also TCU isn't losing to Iowa State so they will for sure have at least 1 team in the playoff.  They will just reinforce them staying with 10.   That league doesn't want to split the pie at all.  Texas is big in that feeling. Best case scenario is USF to get better and at least get into one of those Big Bowl games.

PS-Sorry to the guy who roots against Louisville every time they play.

Guys, redbird2001 has been a friend to this board.  Unlike SOME of the regulars on here, he has brought interesting points or perspectives to the discussions.  Out of all of the teams which bailed, I can forgive Louisville as they were left with no other choice.  As far as I can tell, their fans would have been content if the Big East as we knew it in 2005 stayed in place (maybe with a few strategic additions).  They have had success in the major sports, have a lot of fans, and have the most money in the ACC.

The only who's responded was Ga and didn't seem like it was anything out of sorts ... and I'm another that hopes Louisville football loses every game strictly because I think Petrino is a dbag. No other real problem with them as we go back to the Metro days and if I recall correctly, I think they were instrumental in helping us move along with them out of there.

It was not directed at him at all.  Was stating this in general before it was an issue. And Petrino is not Strong for sure.

Ah .... Got it. I thought most already knew about him but you're probably right.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
