Hiring this search firm was not simply a random phone call from Judy, out of the blue.

The CEO has been around USF for a while.

If their people are in anyway responsible for the information leaks the only thing that got banged was USF.

What is so difficult to understand? No leaks about anything are coming from the USF or search firm side. Interest in Massiello came from Pitino when he said Massiello came to him for input about USF. Rice info came from UNLV AD.

Our people haven't made a peep either way.

Was covered far earlier in this thread.  I'm not terribly enthused about paying 60k to evade the law.  In any case, it's been terribly ineffective given that every single step of this search has been leaked by sources (seemingly) outside their control.

No silly, because he never would have come here and he's using USF as a negotiation tool for his alma mater.  What USF couldn't do, shouldn't do, would look like jackasses doing was to give an offer to someone with no real intent of relocating and being our MBB coach. Whiffing once is bad enough but now we'll be on record as whiffing twice.  It's bad friggin form.  If he comes I'll eat crow, but his future lies out west....he knows it, which means Eastman & Beaudine should have known it as well.

I don't disagree with you on the details, its all true but we hired a coach, it was reported widely and we have no coach. That's a whiff and other than those of us who are deeply invested into USF, the details are meaningless tripe.  There's already stories lambasting USF for the handling of this coaches search.  Rightly or wrongly, the perception out there beyond USF is that we whiffed once and now twice.  That's a reality my green goggles won't filter.

It's not rocket science......it's human nature.  It was as clear as a faultless diamond. Why was no one at USF Athletics or Eastman-Beaudine looking?  Bad form......bad ******* form.
