are we still wasting our time recruiting guys that will never set foot on campus because they get drafted too high?

This team has the talent and ability to finish around the. 500 mark at the end of the season and could compete for middle of the pack in the American. Mediocrity would be a very very good thing for a USF team which has been a bottom feeder in nearly every sport. USF just doesn't have the tradition, money, or fanbase that the other programs ahead of us in the state like uf, FSU, Miami, UCF, fiu, and FAU do...

Since when did these three schools have more money, fans, and traditions than us?

THANK GOD FOR SOFTBALL AND WOMENS BASKETBALL

Yawn

I'd still rather watch our mediocore men's basketball and football team over those. Even if they were playing in the national championship I wouldn't care to be honest...

It's a tough position.  You go after great players and they end up getting drafted.  You go after kids that don't get drafted and they play like kids that don't get drafted.  Had Jose Fernandez not been quite as good in HS and not drafted in the first round, USF would be in the Big East (now AAC) driver's seat.  Baseball seems like the toughest sport to recruit to me.

Really wouldn't mind seeing big things from baseball this year...

This team is going to Omaha.  I read it here at TBP.

Ricky, your a champ man... Are you retired? How do you get to all these games? Pretty cool

Yep. We're retired. Spend way too much time at USF events.  We try very hard to support all the teams by buying season tickets and try to get to some games for all sports.  Still haven't gotten into soccer enough I guess.  We even to try to make at least one volleyball match a year.

Maybe we just close athletics down completely. Is that your suggestion?

...if it continues to be a black eye on the university and a money drain...then yes! Go to club sports only for students who want to participate in athletics. I just hope Harlan can turn it around and fast. I believe that Taggart will have a much better year this year and that could help repair the blackeye that athletics has put on the face of the school.

Bullcocky Troll is gonna troll

And schools like FAU and FIU have had great baseball for years. I can remember being in elementary school and going to watch a top25 FAU team while eating a Publix sub with my pops in Boca Raton. They've always had great baseball down there, not sure why we can't snag those kids to come here though.
