It is unreasonable to think that a play clock official can accurately time a possession of 300 milliseconds. They could potentially review the film, but the NCAA has taken any subjectivism out of the play through testing. I'm more upset that we couldn't defend it. We even had a foul to give ...

Yeah, but you can't foul the guy standing next to the basket.  Worst case he miraculously ties the game.  If you foul him while he is tipping it in, it's a shooting foul and he's on the line with a free throw to win the game.

 

So the foul to give really doesn't come into play there.  You know he can't catch and shoot because the refs have told you several times.  It takes an unbelievable throw in to get him the ball 90+ feet down the court in a position to tip it in.  You try and harass the guy but steer clear of a foul at all costs.
