The biggest storyline from Saturday’s Class 6A state championship game wasn’t the 52-7 outcome or what Dalvin Cook did in leading the Rockets to it’s third title in four years – it was what Cook will do over the next four years.

A swarm of reporters gathered around Cook moments after the Rockets captured its second straight 6A crown and peppered him with questions about where he’ll be taking his talents for college.

Cook said he made up his mind last week after a whirlwind of college coaches came through and that he will announce at halftime of the Under Armour All-American game.

“In my mind, I know where I am going,†Cook said.

When asked where he was going, Cook responded “nobody knows but me.â€

The deciding factor – his comfort with his future coaching staff.

FSU, Texas, Miami and LSU were all in to see Cook the last two weeks. Now, Cook will shut down his recruiting until the Under Armour game; January 2nd at 4 p.m. at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

“You keep hearing the same thing from all the coaches, sometimes you just need to recognize whats real and whats fake,†Cook said. “I just keep hearing the same thing so I am just going to shut it down. I am going to shut it down right now.â€

Nobody will come see him tomorrow and Cook will not visit Florida.

When asked about where he stood with the Gators, Cook said he is still “100% committed†until the Under Armour game.

When asked what kind of offense he was looking for, Cook said a balanced offense that will help prepare him for the NFL.

Its been a whirlwind for Cook recently, but he has handled it well and going to a school as rich in tradition as Central helped greatly.

“When you become a Rocket, you sign up for things like this,†Cook said. “You just become a man when you are a Rocket. I am became a man over this whole recruiting process and you got to learn how to deal with everything.â€

Looks like everything will come to a close after the New Year.

Is this for real? He would start on his first day.

Looking at #53 getting ready to crush #4, my first thought was, "Why aren't we chasing THAT guy?"  Well...he's already a commit.  Michael Smith looks like a beast.  I taped today's game, and I'll watch it soon...and will keep an eye on these guys.

Looking forward to watching some mean & nasty OL blasting people.

Look out for Deatrick Nichols #6 as well. Supposedly he has been  a beast in the playoffs.

If Vincent Jackson's right, I'll find a permissible benefit for him if one exists.

But you're surely right...Jackson goes to Jesuit in Tampa. Yearby and Cook are at Central in Miami. I sincerely doubt he has much if any knowledge of their decisions.

If this kid picks usf without having taken a visit, the NCAA has every reason to investigate.
