I think Skippy will actually do decently at LaTech. He's surrounded himself with different coaching assistants.

Skip may have equal or better success than he had at ECU. Some people thrive in certain environments and not in others. Who knows why Skippy wasn't successful at USF, but if he learned from it he may turn out to have some success at La Tech. I don't wish him luck, but wish we weren't still paying him.

Loosely paraphrasing from "Gleengarry Gleenross", I would wish him luck but he would not know what to do with it.

Definitely telling that he brought zero assistants with him.  Either that was part of the contract or he was able to do in transition what he didn't have the guts/heart to do while he was here.

  • Quotes

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
