Hey everyone,

With the season coming ever closer, I figured i'd stop by and generate some discussion about the MSU/USF game. If you have any questions about MSU's team (or campus, etc. I know some of you are coming up for the game) then feel free to ask.

Hoping for a great game in a few weeks.

What are your weaknesses?  Strengths?

Weaknesses - Offense

Strengths - Defense

To split it up a bit more

- Inexperience at RB and TE. Need young guys to step up here after we lost Le'Veon Bell and Dion Sims to the draft.

- QB play was meh last year, but that could also be attributed to bad WR and OL play.

- WRs dropped like 66 passes last year, ran bad routes, and just sucked overall. The talent is there though, and there was a ton of inexperience there (we had graduated 3 seniors in 2011). This group should be better.

- Kicking game is kind of weird. We lost a senior kicker but he was not very good last year.

- OL has been injury prone

- Special teams coverage and returns were both underwhelming last year.

Strengths

- The defense is absolutely stacked again. Arguably the best back 7 in the Big Ten and probably top 5-10 nationally.

- DL is still very good, but we have a couple of DTs injured so depth on the interior may be a bit of a question mark. We rotate heavily along the DL.

- Very good punter

- On paper, the OL is good. Lots of starting experience and 4/5 of the projected starters are upperclassmen (3 are redshirt seniors). Generally an older OL is a better one, but it's not always true.

Overall, MSU is probably a better team than our 2012 record indicates. We lost 5 games by a combined 13 points. Need to make some improvements on offense and we will be very good. Defense will keep us in every game.

Welcome to the 'Pen SpartanMacks and thanks for taking questions. I am one of the Bulls contingent traveling to the game. Looking forward to the gameday in East Lansing.

How does it make you feel that MSU is about to join the ranks of Auburn, WVU, Kansas, Notre Dame, Miami, FSU etc. as the next big "upset" USF was able to pull off?

Upsets???? Please dude. We were the better team in every one of those games with the possible exception of the ND game.
