@gregauman: Southern Miss has a news conference set for 1 p.m. ET today. Bill McGillis has been Doug Woolard's top assistant at USF since 2007.

Interesting.  Is that a good thing or a bad thing?  I think I've seen opinions of him on both ends of the spectrum on here.

Good for Southern Miss, Better for us, ( personal opinion only).  Now here is to hoping We don't support adding them into this conference when  we expand.  Lets not forget the days when Southern Miss publicly said that Conf USA shouldn't add us and we weren't ready for their level of play.  Hope they stay in CONF USA. (Karma)

Understand your point.  I would prefer to do whatever was in the best interest of the conference.  If that was inviting them to play, then lets beat them year in and year out.  This would also be karma.

My congratulations (and condolences) go to Bill.  No one can say he didn't work hard for USF.  However, I'm not sure if I would consider a move to Hattiesburg a reward.

A promotion is a promotion.  I'm sure he will keep his feelers out for better locales as he gets used to being the MAN in the athletic department.
