College Football News posted a ranking of coaches who it feels are best for a five-year plan.

"It's simple: you have to hire a coach for your program with a five-year plan to build it up. Who'd be the best coach to take? No, this isn't a ranking of the best coaches in college football right now; this is a ranking of who'd be best to take over and be in for the relative long haul."

21.Willie Taggart, South Florida
Career Record: 16-20
One of the hottest young coaches in the game, he went from doing a fantastic job with the Stanford running backs to doing wonders with a Western Kentucky program that needed a big overhaul. While he didn’t win any Sun Belt titles, he got the Hilltoppers to a bowl game last season and put together some talented teams and left the cupboard full for Bobby Petrino.

Coach T himself said there is no 5 year plan. We need to win now.

Given that, of course there is a 5-year inherent in coaching, given that you need your recruits, you need them to learn the system, etc. Your mandate is to win now, but it's not 100% your team.

I certainly hope we win now. With Michigan State, UL, and Miami on the schedule, and this being our last year in an AQ conference, winning now is more important than ever.

Now I hope that Willie T and the new coaching staff have USF Football Covered.

I like what I am hearing and  hopefully USF will be able to pull in quality recruits and we get some qualified depth in all our positions,  offense and defense

Bobby Petrino at #8? In terms of coaches likely to be in it for the long haul? He has two years of winning and he's on to bigger things, let's be real.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
