ND ... We don't get that many shots at "name" schools and this is probably the biggest "name" of all ... and I'm surprised anybody said Pitt considering the way it was worded. What's the use in beating Pitt and going 1-6 in conference ... ?  ;)

Beating ND would likely get USF ranked and would help to greatly increase attendance in our next three home games. It might also help us to land some more commits. We could lose on the road at Pitt and still win the conference. It also gives us bragging rights on ND and that could lead to a series with them down the road.

We've beaten a few, "named" schools and it has gotten us press for a while, but no BE title.  For that reason, I go with beating Pitt.  The nice thing about this though, is we don't have to make the choice.  We can beat them both.

Both games are on the road.

Both games are on national tv.

Both games are early in the season, I think we can overcome one early loss.

Purely selfish reason - ND - Would make for one awesome weekend!

I got to go with Notre Dame. National TV on opening weekend against one of the most popular teams in the US. I know the BE is important and the biggest knock on us has been not winning it YET, but this is a rare opportunity to get a road win in South Bend and build/restore some national status.

I think the Auburn game did improve USF's status in the eyes of the nation, but after knocking a down FSU and Miami, I don't think the effect will be quite there. As a previous poster stated, what if ND happens to have a down year? USF has got to win the Big East, so I'll take the Pitt game as the more important of the two options.
