it has nothing to do with this topic but calling anything in sports "the best in history" is the WORST statement in sports.

Please confine your inexpertise to Bulls football. The 77 Bucs defense was decent at best and the 76 Buc D was HORRIBLE ....

Nevertheless, he does have a point.  I'll remind you all of a certain NFC championship in which an offense-less bucs team came up a little short.  Actually, they had a top 10 defense numerous times in that stretch with dungy, and yet usually got spanked early on in the playoffs.

They also came into wildcard weekend with the #1 D this year, i think.  That never changed, yet they lost giving up 120 yards.  Teams DO need an O.  Otherwise, the other team can just punt it every possesion and let the more inept offense turn it over for great field position.

Defense doesnt win championships by itself.  Teams do.  And you need those games the offense wins to even make it there...

it was clear that the bucs lost this week only because their offense LOST it.

Defense wins championships...offenses just need to be good enough not to LOSE them.

I imagine... early pix... would be... WV then Louisville.. and with the class Pitt is bringing in.. Pitt... rutgers n U prob a toss up for #4.

I'd go WVU, Louisville, then us (if we find a competent QB), Rutgers, then Pitt.  Sure they have a great class coming in, but how many are going to be able to contribute right away?

people are already talking that louiville(if they beat miami) may be national champs

usf isn't even on the radar

usf program has been stagnant for years

WVU, Pitt & UL will be the BE elite.  They will have the QBs.  I'm not sure about WVU's D and graduation but all three have QBs for the O systems being run.  I put USF, UCONN & Rutgers on the next level.  I believe these teams could be one of the top three at home.  On the road, it will be a tuff task but possible.  'Cuse & Cinci should struggle again but Cinci has the best chance to rise above its '05 performance IMO.

If USF does get better offensive play which is a big if considering the QB's decision making and WRs hands are all suspect and the OL and RB are an unknowns.  The D may be the best ever if the DL plays up to USF expectations.  Replacing Royals & the Jones (especially Tim) will not be easy.
