I guess the D would hate for us to get too comfortable…

I love reading the emotional rollercoaster that is the live game thread. Navy is playing sloppy today!

Off topic, but what is the advantage of triple option?  Has any triple option been close to winning a national championship / conference title?

The only other triple option I remember is Georgia Tech...

I believe they did back in the day. I don't think they have the ability to recruit players to execute a regular offense like other teams. I could be completely wrong though.

Navy can't recruit the same athletes as other schools, so it gives them an advantage of being unique.

The advantage is that it shortens games and doesn't require skill, but rather toughness and discipline. Navy would get waxed if they relied on athleticism.

I think it’s best suited to offset the fact that the service academies are relatively smaller on the line

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
