I don't think most of us are drained of any hype. The consensus for predictions is 6 or fewer wins this season. My personal excitement is 10/10. My views on the majority of fanbase is 3/10. I just don't think people really know who is on the team. After the first two games the hype will come.

I'm so out of touch that I didn't realize the game was this weekend. My hype is a 0/10.

Tough question.

These things contribute to increasing my hype for the upcoming season:

  • Jeff Scott will not be on the sidelines.  +
  • It looks like we may have a defense and be able to make stops this year.  I really love defense. ++
  • New stadium coming. +
  • I like CAG so far.  This is the honeymoon period. +

These things contribute to reducing my hype for the upcoming season:

  • I honestly have forgotten what it feels like to win a game.  -
  • Our home schedule blows.  Mostly nobody teams, and Alabama gets a home game at RayJay. ---
  • Our new AAC blows.  My most hated opponents are mostly gone now, and I don't care for the replacement teams.  --
  • A bit worried about learning a "fast new offense" because it makes me think there will be costly mistakes in the first few games. -

So I have to give it 5/10.

Its a brand new start, a brand new coach, brand new OCS on the way, so the hype is higher for me then it was last year or the year before. Really hoping that the new Golesh era can be a successful one. While I am hyped I am hoping that in the first game against WKU, we can at least make the game interesting. There nothing worse to affect ones hype than being routed by your first opponent in the first half as we saw over the last 3 to 4 seasons.

Most hyped seasons for me were when we were in the Big East.

Ain't that the truth.

This is close to where I stand. In my mind, 5/10 hype means an average season. Like a 5/10 means 'We had a borderline season last year and we've got some pieces in place to bounce back' or 'This looks like a rebuilding year, there's some big question marks.' Any time it's Year 1 of a new coach, unless it's plainly a whiff, the hype is going to be above average. That's the only reason this is a 6/10, otherwise we have a lot going against us. Terrible conference, terrible performance over the last several years, lots of question marks on both sides of the ball -- on paper we have potential but that was true a bunch of other years. Without the mystique of a new coach, this is a 2/10 or 3/10 year.

5/10 for me. Hopes aren’t high.

I do think this is probably the most important season for our team given the current realignment situation. If we can start turning a corner this season, they would be great.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

    Michael Kelly
