True. And has UCF ever played Alabama in the Saban era?

Didn't they win the national championship in the Saban era? So in their minds... yes they did.

Hopefully we have a winning coach and a solid program by then. We only have 6 seasons to get ready.

Let’s just go ahead and give Goach an extension to 2029.

Personally, I think we should just adopt the UCF mindset.  And since CAG had a cup of coffee there in Otown, let's just declare him now a title-winning coach and ourselves...

I'm taking the troll bait damnit lol but that's not at all true. Except for the Saban tweet. That's dumb fan talk lol.

UCF under Heupel was slipping every year. Went from 12-1 to 10-3 to 6-4. He whiffed on a lot of local kids and our fans dogged him for that. Kept going for project OL dudes from Germany. Heupel was able to fix some of his recruiting shortcomings he had here but being at Tennessee also helps. Gus has elevated recruiting and we're having to play catch up for some of the holes left by Heupel.

Pre season polls have as mid pack, between 6 and 9 (nice) depending on the poll. Almost unanimously agreed that we look the best equipped for a solid first season of the 4 new teams. At least on paper. Still pretty early but right now we've also been recruiting the best of the 4 new teams.

This is hogwash. Heupel is probably one of the best coaches that UCF has ever had. Seeing what he is doing at Tenn makes your response look insane lol. Gus is a washed up coach and you will find out soon enough this season. Stay tuned

Well, let's hope they keep Malzahn, they'd be pulling in Saban next.

Eh, I think there's some merit to the idea that Heupel failed at recruiting locally (hence why Timmy ended up here and ended up running back to UCF when Gus was there). Also, he definitely was at least a minor step back from Scott Frost.

All that said, I'm not sold on Gus achieving more than inconsistent success (as he did at Auburn).

Gus right now is doing exactly how he did at Auburn. Great recruiter, good defense, stale offense and QB development, high floor, but also doesn't reach much higher above that. Never had a losing season at Auburn but had mostly underwhelming seasons but then would have one great season to cool the hot seat before going back 8 win territory. I don't see him as the one to take us to the greatest heights but he's exactly what we need for building up our foundations as we step into P5 competition.

He's not terrible, but he was likely going to be keeping us constantly in the 7 to 9 win territory once Milton and some of the Frost recruits were gone. Offense could pummel bad and average teams, challenge some good ones, but any team above that could find ways to shut it down. What he's doing now at Tennessee shows he's learned though from where things were heading south here. He was also handcuffed on the defensive side because our AD hired Randy Shannon independently of Heupel because he wanted a splash after we lose Frost. So our team ran like 2 separate teams.

The likelihood of that happening is about the same a Malzhan to winning multiple national titles and end up with a higher winning percentage than Saban who is the GOAT of modern college football. Kirby and Dabo had some good years. They have to continue the success over a long period of time and  and winning nattys  with multiple teams to enter the conversation.  It is going to be interesting to see how Kirby and Dabo compare at the end of their careers.
