But the timing of the Brey exit and the Sweet 16 going on now (or the NIT) makes me wonder if VPMK doesn’t have a line on someone still coaching. Maybe Brey wanted an answer now and Kelly wasn’t willing to give him one. Let’s let the string play out before we pass judgments.

If Brey wanted an answer now, that answer is: Here's your contract Mr. Brey.

There's no chance he's coming back here to coach IMO. It's probably been about a decade since I last spoke with Seth. He's got a pretty good gig at ESPN. I doubt he wants to re-run things back here as a 66-year old man. When Beard got picked up by Ole Miss (total homerun hire IMO) and someone leaked the non-hiring of Mike Brey, it made me realize we're at Ground Zero in the process - and it's not moving in the right direction. There has to be a top young head coach at a D2 or D3 school that knows X's and O's that wants to cut his teeth at USF. We should have had a list prepared coming into the season knowing one of two things was going to occur with our previous HC based on his previous history. I'm totally dumbfounded about how ill prepared we are to not have a coach already in place (Iona literally hired their guy within two days of losing Pitino). That's called having foresight. Someone needs to be consulting with their AD. 1
