  1. USF gets $400,000 on its first trip to Bama and $1 million if the third game happens (there are out-clauses). This story from Al.com has the details. Why is Alabama football traveling to South Florida? Here’s what the contract says. WWW.AL.COM The Crimson Tide will be playing its first non-power conference game in 20 years.
  2. It’s real simple. Step 1: Win games Step 2: Keep lines of communication open with ACC & Big 12 Step 3: Be ready to jump when FSU and Clemson inevitably move on.
  3. On those rare occasions when USF men’s basketball has been relevant, the community has shown interest. I looked up some attendance stats from back in the day to see if I was hallucinating. But no, there have been actual good crowds from time to time. They drew 9,737 for a game at Amalie against West Virginia in 2012. Nearly 7,000 for a game against Cincinnati in the same year. More than 6,300 at the Dome in 2013 against Notre Dame. About 6,500 in 2014 vs. Louisville and 7,231 in 2018 against UCF. Long-time USF watchers remember strong crowds for many games during the Lee Rose era. They had full houses (or nearly so) for compelling games during Bobby Paschal and Seth Greenberg’s time. But here’s the rub: They gotta win. I don’t know why success has been so hard to sustain in MBB, but facts are facts. I am hopeful the new guy will turn things around because USF can win. And if that happens, the YingDome will be rocking.
  4. Mike Bianchi has been all for continuing the USF-UCF rivalry. He urged both ADs to figure out a way to make it happen. I would think UCF would support USF’s entry to the Big 12 if it comes to that.
  5. I just completed this quiz. My Score 46/100 My Time 229 seconds
  6. I have no evidence to support this, not even a Pete Thamel rumor. But the timing of the Brey exit and the Sweet 16 going on now (or the NIT) makes me wonder if VPMK doesn’t have a line on someone still coaching. Maybe Brey wanted an answer now and Kelly wasn’t willing to give him one. Let’s let the string play out before we pass judgments.
  7. Did you notice who scored the Bengals’ last touchdown Sunday to clinch Cincy’s win over the Bucs? None other than USF’s Mitch Wilcox hauled in a 12-yard TD from Joe Burrow. Sweet!
  8. Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh to be new South Florida coach, per report Tennessee football offensive coordinator Alex Golesh will be the new head coach at South Florida, according to multiple reports.
  9. Quarterback Gerry Bohanon To Miss The Remainder Of Season With A Shoulder Injury - USF Athletics Junior quarterback suffered injury in first half in last Saturday's clash with Tulane.
  10. i'm suspicious about this one. i wonder if ESPN wasn't the one driving the train for a brother commentator. fraschilla made no sense here from the start
  11. I assume that had you been on the Titanic, you would have been telling someone to turn off the leaky faucet just as the ship's bow began to sink below the waves. Dude, the Bulls are 4-28 in the BE. They got turned down by a coach from WINTHROP! The guy at Arkansas got fired after making the NCAA Tournament twice in the last two years. What, exactly, qualifies as a mess to you?
  12. What did Martin say in that column that isn't true? Is it "good" news that Marshall turned the job down? Or that Pelphrey doesn't want it? Or that Travis Ford doesn't? :-?
  13. One thing for sure: His rules would be etched in stone.
  14. Brett is busting his tail on this story and he is doing a great job. I, for one, appreciate his hard work to get us the information.
  15. Didn't Brett report the other day that USF had interviewed Pelphrey on the same day Greg reported USF had gotten "permission" to talk with him? :
