After the way the Deion non-hiring went I'm sure the athletic department is keeping everything on the down low. Or... just as likely, because it's USF men's hoops, nobody in the sports rumor world noticed (or cared enough). 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think they still kept it on the DL for the football hiring as well. This was one of the most tight-lipped hiring processes I remember from USF. All of the crazy Deion talk was from people who always acted like they were “in the know” but in reality had no idea. We interviewed Deion, but I don’t think we really know much more than that.

Pitino is destined for St. Johns, the ink has probably already dried on that deal.

Dusty May or Bob Richey would be home run hires, but I also wouldn't be surprised if a bigger name with bigger $$ can pick them up.

That's why Kelly earns the big bucks. He needs to seal the deal with a quality coach. Maybe time that we spend a little more on someone who can take USF to multiple NCAA tournaments

Home run hires? I really doubt it. Great year for Dusty May and FAU in 2022-23. In his four previous seasons there, the Owls were 66-56. He's just as likely to be Steve Masiello Part II, who was a hot name after a 25-8 season at Manhattan in 2013-14 and then bottomed out. Bob Richey? Nice win totals, but he won his first SoCon title this year - his sixth season at Furman. None of these low mid-major coaches are home runs. You take a shot with them and hope, because that's all you can do. But definitely NOT home run hires.

If we end up with a guy like one of these two, we may have a shot, but who knows? Just like the gamble we take with Golesh.

Let FAU pay him to stay.

Would Coach Jose F. succeed as a MBB coach?  Would his philosophy work?

I don't see why not. There is precedent for it in sports. One example is the Canadian national soccer team; where the former national women's coach John Herdman took the men's teams to the World cup last year for the first time since 1986.

But I wouldn't mess with the only successful program we have right now

Dusty May's FAU just made it to the round of 32, equaling our best ever result. FAU has now won 33 games this year.

I my opinion May is a quality coach, and would be a great hire. We should definitely go after him.

He will have better options.

Wrong. They’re waiting for our hire to finish his bachelor’s degree.

Chucky's back in school?
